I love to play tennis and I love to go rock climbing. Even though I gave these up for about a year due to relocation and travel, I plan to get back to them as soon as possible – and so could you!
Perhaps not tennis, and perhaps not climbing up any hills, but certainly choose a sport you love and that your friends can play with you.
Think also of a sport that lets moms involve their kids. I love tennis because it forces focus and concentration. That’s a good skill for kids to learn. As you hone your swing skills, you build your confidence. A quality kids also need.
Hiking for me is a bond with nature. Of course, it builds my endurance, but I feel at one with nature as I grope the dirt and discover new insects, plants or uniquely shaped stones. The view from the apex is my reward.
Motivate yourself with shiny new sports gear and equipment to suit whichever sport you choose. A French chain, Decathlon, is my go-to just because they have most gear and equipment under one roof.
But sometimes I feel like they fit the smaller frame, and I. Not so petite, so I have Amazon as a quick alternative option.
As soon as you determine your sport, find a convenient location. I love greenery, so I would highly likely go for a park, garden or easy hiking trail nearby.
Read up on safety, weather and equipment and prepare to have a good time!
With your gear, location and safety standards sorted, try social media to garner and invite your community of nearby moms.
We would start small and keep it fun. Encourage others to bring their drinks, snacks and anything sharable (including ideas) with them.
Schedule an hour for the game or activity, just to let your hair down and stretch out your limbs.
Remember to keep community rules tight and to monitor.
You’d be surprised where this could take you. From finding and maintaining your fitness routine to starting your own mini sports club.
Let your ideas run wild. Start small, but stay consistent!
Can you start a fun sports group for moms?
