The Unreality That It Could Never Happen To Me

What makes you laugh?

It makes me laugh when someone insinuates a situation could never happen to them. It may be remotely unlikely, but the sheer denial that it could never happen to me is the most hilarious joke of the century.

Life is a comic. A comic full of ironies. And sometimes you almost feel the best way to describe your situation is life is saying the joke’s on you. It makes me laugh so hard.

So, I enjoy listening to comedians who so artistically transform life realities into comic. Like when Trevor Noah points out the whole point of Brexit was to pushback on immigration and make the UK more British, then the UK ends up with a Prime Minister of immigrant descent. Such realities make you face your flaws and rethink your values.

They are ironies that are inevitable and witnessing them makes me laugh the hardest.

My worry is when we’re ill prepared for the terrible, negative events of life. Again, no one is immune to the trauma that results.

Those don’t make me laugh. Those make me want to remind everyone to stop judging, stop hating, stop discriminating and just start respecting and appreciating.

Respect people going through hardship and appreciate whatever ease you have. We can all heal from trauma. But the unreality that it could never happen to me, is just that: an unreality.
