The love I have for my children is boundless and unwavering. No matter the challenges we face, this love remains our greatest strength.

Single moms are incredibly resilient. We navigate tough times with grace and determination, proving time and again that we can overcome any obstacle.

When it comes to a single mom’s unconditional love and her resilience, here are 10 truths I know for sure.

Your Support System is Your Lifeline

Or build your own support system. Having a reliable support system, whether it’s family, friends, or fellow single moms, is crucial. We all need a village to thrive. Don’t languish around pity-parties, find a system that emboldens and empowers you.

Self-Care is Non-Negotiable

Taking time for yourself is essential. Self-care helps us recharge and be the best version of ourselves for our children. Best of all, it gives you pause. Time to think, plan and strategize.

Education is Empowerment

Ensuring our children have access to quality education is one of the best investments we can make in their future. But children are not the only ones you should educate. Strive to be as informed as you can. Strive to certify. Education is also your empowerment.

Routine Brings Stability

Children thrive on stability. Stability helps you plan. Establishing a consistent routine provides our children with a sense of security and helps them feel safe and cared for. You can plan most activities and limit the uncertainties that come with single parenting.

Financial Intelligence is a Must

Financial Literacy is Key: Understanding and managing finances is vital. It empowers us to make informed decisions and provide a stable future for our families.

Communication is Key

Communication is Crucial: Open, honest communication with our children builds trust and helps them navigate their own emotions and experiences.

Flexibility is Your Friend

Embrace Flexibility. Life rarely goes according to plan. Embracing flexibility allows us to adapt and thrive in changing circumstances.

The Joy is in the Small Moments

Finding joy in the little things—like a shared laugh, a quiet cuddle, or a homemade meal—makes the journey of single motherhood incredibly rewarding.

The Sex is Only Great in Mutual Respect

There will be times you are going to second guess your decision to be a single parent. Times when the scent of a hottie or the charm of a beauty will distract you. Remember not to settle for less than you’re worth. The sex does get stale otherwise. If there’s no respect, you’ll be headed for the exit…again. Or worse, miserable in melancholy.

You Don’t Need One Million Likes

You just need the love of your children and the loyalty of that one true friend. That friend that keeps routing for you, even when the odds are against you.

I’ve been a single mom 18 years. It’s not all that long, but what I know is it’s been 18 years of unconditional love and these 10 truths I know for sure.
