Stretch, breathe, raise your feet. To increase full body comfort daily, you must keep your muscles relaxed and your mind lucid. Deep breaths give your brain a healthy flow of oxygen. You also relieve muscle tension and improve blood flow when you raise your feet.
The Stretch
Start the morning with a 5-minute stretch in bed. Consider this one of the perks of being single, particularly if you don’t share your bed with the kids. Every morning, I wake up to a deep breath and conscious, deep stretching – pandiculation.
Pandiculation is more than just stretching. We see it often in our newborns when they wake up or are about to sleep. You stretch and stiffen your trunk and extremities. This simple act revives your muscles and awakens your brain. During the day, pandiculation relaxes tense muscles, calms anxiety and will increase full body comfort.
In the morning, pandiculation is mostly automatic, but you can and should practice it consciously throughout the day. Read a full article about the benefits of pandiculation here.
Breathe
Take deep breaths before reflecting on a matter or beginning a new activity. Rather than panting after taking a flight of stairs, force yourself to take deep breaths instead.
Deep breaths should begin to come naturally and increase full body comfort.
Raise Your Feet
I have a footstool under my desk in the office and I use one during toilet breaks at home. At the office, when sitting, I raise my feet on the footstool. I can then try to hold my toes and gently use my toes to pull my body forward. I take a deep breath and stiffen my limbs in pandiculation.
Its the ultimate boost to my full body comfort during the day.
